This paper attempts to assess the Church’s comprehension of riddle of the Blessed Trinity and the different contentions related with it. The Blessed Trinity and the congregation The Blessed Trinity includes the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as one body and soul. It shows the solidarity among the three sections in a single God. It is given high accentuation in the Nicene Creed which is embraced by most houses of worship including the Anglican Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church, Oriental Orthodox Churches, Assyrian Church of the East, the Roman Catholic (Old Catholic Church and Eastern Catholic Churches), the Lutheran church and most Protestant sections. A few houses of worship and Christians anyway consider it as unauthoritative in light of the fact that it isn't a piece of the holy book, for instance, the Church of the New Jerusalem and the Jehovah’s Witnesses.[1] According to the Nicene Creed, there is just a single God who is the maker of everything that is noticeable and undetectable, one Lord Jesus, the Son of God who was conceived of the Holy Spirit through the Virgin Mary for our salvation, killed, languished and passed on over our wrongdoings at that point rose and rose into paradise and will come back again for judgment, an d the Holy soul who is loved and celebrated along with the Son and the Father. The Nicene Creed likewise expresses that there is additionally the restoration of the dead and post-existence (interminable life). The ideology gives an individual some type of character in declaring what he/she accepts and gives him/her the soul to continue developing in confidence and doing the correct things realizing that toward the finish, all things considered, there is eternal life similarly as Jesus Christ revived from the dead. Any individual however has the choice of either maintaining the statement of faith or not. The statement of faith explains assessments on whether and how Jesus Christ is God and furthermore fills in as a premise of chapel doctrines.[2] A Christian ought to accept and comprehend the secret of the Trinity.[3] In petition Christians ought to ask God the Father to attract them near the Son, the Son to uncover the Father to them and Holy Spirit to join them to the Father and th e Son. The trinity ought to be treated as one God in three people and none of the people ought to be under-underlined. The three people interrelate and cooperate as one. The Catholic Church lectures that there is just a single God who is vast in information, power, and different parts of flawlessness. In this extraordinary being there are three self who are completely equivalent to each other.Advertising Looking for article on religion religious philosophy? The indication of the cross utilized by Christians, for instance, in absolution shows a calling of confidence in the Blessed Trinity. Individuals from the congregation ought to be joined together and have confidence in similar principles of revelation[4] (Gibbons, 200 3). The Blessed Trinity is an idea received by the congregation in its practices. A Christian ought to in all manners accept that God shows Himself in three bodies; The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit as one. Similarly as there is solidarity in the Blessed Trinity, the congregation anticipates solidarity and amicability among the congregation individuals and furthermore among the different organs that comprise the congregation. Individuals should co-relate and cooperate to accomplish what God expect of them and over the long haul to acquire the realm of God. The disputable component in the Blessed Trinity is the subsequent individual; the Son; where individuals will in general differ to the possibility that He is God putting together their contentions with respect to the way that he was made by God the Father. Further contentions express that the Son isn't equivalent to the Father as He is obvious instead of the Father, He is a made being and that his age isn't interminable and consequently He is mediocre compared to the Father. In His lessons Jesus Christ additionally expressed that there is an incredible God who had sent Him causing us to feel the prevalence of God the Father. All things considered, the congregation encourages that Jesus Christ is God since he is of the substance of the dad and he is additionally Man since He was conceived of the Virgin Mary through manifestation, and he lived and kicked the bucket as man. The Blessed Trinity has existed together and neither the Father has lived without the Son or the Son without the Holy Spirit. The Blessed Trinity perspective has been given incredible accentuation by different assemblies by incorporating the Nicene Creed in their methods of love in the ceremony. The statement of faith is recounted after the expression of God is perused and before the supplications of intervention and this shows the significance appended to it since it goes about as a connection between the expression of God and petitio n. Despite the fact that the Blessed Trinity thought isn't in the Bible it gets incredible help from the sacred writing, for instance, in sanctification where Jesus Christ approved baptismal of individuals for the sake of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Mathew 28:19). He likewise instructed them to remember him as the Son of God and guaranteed them that the Father would send them an awesome individual; the Holy Spirit. It is in any case connected with banter since certain individuals accept that since the three people have equivalent forces, there are three Gods rather than one God in three people. The way that the Son and the Holy Spirit draws power from the Father additionally causes individuals to accept that they are less equivalent or sub-par compared to the Father.Advertising We will compose a custom paper test on Divine Revelation and the Mystery of the Blessed Trinity explicitly for you for just $16.05 $11/page Learn More Conclusion The Blessed Trinity instructs Go d’s nature. It is obvious that God actualizes His forces through three people who have a perfect nature. The people; the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are completely equivalent however particular from one another. The Son is conceived of the Father by interminable age and the Holy Ghost continues from the Father and Son by an unceasing parade. It is anyway through heavenly disclosure that this idea of Blessed Trinity can be seen, all things considered this remaining parts an impervious truth to reason. Reference List Geitz, E. Admission Essay free essay sample I would like to get an admission in a dental school so that I can pursue a career that has always been my dream. I must say that I have had a vast experience and exposure on this profession dating back to my old days as a dental student in India. During that time, I worked in various government hospitals for a year. This enabled me get sufficient exposure on some of the dental ailments like tooth fractures, gingivitis and temporo mandibular disorders and how to treat them. Consequently I was exposed to the principles and ethics of dentistry that includes confidentiality, competence, being compassionate and portraying a high level of professionalism. These factors make me suitable for the career. In addition, I have worked with a re-knowned dentist, Dr. Swalan thus gaining more knowledge about dental surgery. I have worked with various people and I well understand the dentist-patient relationship and how this can be enhanced. I was also made to understand that dentistry is an absolutely good income job that would enable me make ends meet in my life. In my present job as a dental assistant, I handle quite a number of tasks. These range from preparing the patients on behalf of the doctor to taking of X-rays for the patients. In addition, I clean patient’s teeth, receive payments and make bills. My goal is to learn more about dentistry and to become a professional dentist that one can reckon with. I would rather look forward into learning all dental aliments and their treatment procedures/processes. As I sit besides the Doctor while administering treatment, I aspire to induce as many students as possible into joining this profession. I also dream of becoming a professional Dental surgeon myself, offering consultation services to other medics. If my admission is guaranteed I would be contented as my other goal of pursuing a practical job of which I am good at, shall have been accomplished. How has this affected your belief system? I grew up going to church every Sunday and Wednesday, rarely did I miss a service. I was homeschooled, kindergarten through middle school, learning daily from the Christian-based curriculum textbooks that were purchased by my parents, for me and my siblings. My father was a preacher; my mother was both a stay at home mom and my schoolteacher. Needless to say, the early stages of my life consisted of and were based upon my family’s religion. It was natural and regular for me to live each day through the beliefs instilled in me by my parents, uncontested. Then I was enrolled into a public school for ninth grade. My parents did an excellent job of exposing me to the world and to parts of society. I experienced many things and was not â€Å"sheltered† as some people put it. We will write a custom essay sample on Admission Essay or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Even though I had social experiences before, daily contact and interaction with certain people, at a public school, opened my eyes to the world even more. I experienced a radical change from spending my day with family and friends who were of the same mindset, to interacting with many people who did not share my values and some were even hostile towards my beliefs. People and their beliefs are extraordinarily interesting to consider. Some people view all values to merely be one’s opinion on matters, while others mistake a simple opinion to be an inherent moral truth. Such mistakes seem to occur in nearly all debates or discussions that even slightly relate or appeal to a person’s values or opinions. Upon entering public high school, I was almost blindsided with the realization that many people do not mind challenging all that you stand for. From your petty opinion on something of little importance, to maybe your core religious beliefs, people will try to make you defend what you think or say. Such a challenge was once forced upon me, and so I responded by defending what I considered to be a moral truth. Freshman year in Biology class, by some vague means, the issue of abortion came up during a class discussion. Like a drop of water hitting a hot iron, the classroom heated up and passionate arguments began to fly. The teacher atte mpted to calm the mood, but the debate raged on. Then I opened my mouth and naively voiced my thoughts. The opposing side jumped on me and began to tear my statements apart like a pack of wolves. Using little to no rational or reasonable counter arguments, they resorted to degrading names and making passionate accusations. Accusations that I, and a few other classmates, considered to have no relevance to the debate topic and therefore they had essentially no value to the discussion. Regardless of what I thought, the opposing side showed no slacking and, therefore, I felt forced to stand up, literally, and present a full defense of what I believed. After a few minutes, the teacher had regained control of the classroom and I was the last man standing, continuing to argue my case. Then they just told me to shut up. After this first instance, I began to realize something about people and their values. The more times a person’s beliefs are challenged, the stronger and even more stubbornly they will believe and defend them. Even when presented with a reasonable counter argument, the person will deny logic and continue to stand for his or her belief. Because of this realization, I started to change the way I defended my own beliefs and how I challenged others. In order to have a reasonable discussion, you first must find common ground with the opposing person. This idea was once foreign to me, but now I try to begin every discussion by determining what we agree on, and then progress from there. From one little instance, seemingly insignificant in the whole scheme of things, during my freshman year, I changed and was able to understand my belief system and others more accurately. There is much more progress to be made in my understanding of human beliefs and standards, but I certainly think I’ve started and touched on the â€Å"tip of the iceberg†.

A critical review of literature on the importance of social media in branding The WritePass Journal

A critical review of literature on the importance of social media in branding 1.0 Introduction A critical review of literature on the importance of social media in branding ). On the contrary it can be said that more and more retailers and business are becoming increasingly aware of the social media and are waiting to exploit the potential that social marketing offers (Olivas-lujan, 2013) 1.1 Background Spend on social media by the businesses are on the rise. Recent study by the IAB (Internet Advertising Bureau) shows that in the first half of 2014 in the UK alone, there has been a rise of 53% in the spend on social media by businesses with a total contribution of  £242.5 million (Somerville, 2014). Another study by IAB on FMGC sector consisting of more than 4500 survey responses and 800 interviews showed that 90% of the customers would use social media to refer the brands to peers, 4 in 5 customers would buy products that have good social media coverage and 83% would be willing to try products that are popular in social media (Anon, 2013). Similarly, a research conducted by Mass Relevance that provides social media curation platform to clients found that 59% of the consumers will more likely trust a brand that has presence in the social media and 64% of the consumers interviewed have already made purchases based on social media presence and reviews (Chaney, 2012). Appendix 1 shows the social media advertising effects on consumers (Source: Neilsen Survey: Anon, 2012) 1.2 Motivation From the above, it can be understood that social media has a profound impact on the consumers’ choice of brands and that it is key to engage effectively with customers. There is a lot of literature that discusses about the social media impact on consumers, why businesses should engage with customers, exploiting social media to provide value add etc. The main aim of this research is to look into various key researches in this area and to provide a critical review on the literature. The critical review aims to see if: The problems are identified clearly The literature provides a balanced view There are gaps in the literature 1.3 Research Process The success of the research is admittedly determined by measuring the extent to which each of the research objectives is met. The following steps are followed during this research to ensure its success. These steps are as follows: Firstly, a background into the research and its motivations is given. Following this, the key literature in this area is thoroughly investigated. This is intended to ensure that all aspects of the research are identified and that the challenges or gaps in the current literature are clearly understood. Next, the literature is critically analysed to see if the problems are identified and if it provides a balanced view of the topic. It also looks into the research methodology to see if the methods used are consistent with the qualitative and quantitative methods and also checks for what has not been provided. Finally, this research concludes by providing a conclusion that is supported by evidence presented in the literature. It also makes recommendations where appropriate. In summary, this chapter has provided a brief overview of the research, addressed the key challenges or gaps in the literature and justified the need to conduct this research. This chapter has also set the background and motivations for the research in order to enable the reader to better understand the subsequent chapters. The central question for the research has addressed here, and the reader now also understands the problem statements that have led to this research. 2.0 Literature Review This research discusses about social media and its effect on branding and consumers. But what is social media? The term social media can be defined as â€Å" Many online tools that allow people with similar interests to share information, learn from others, or network in an open process. The information found on these sites is commonly referred to as ‘user-generated content’, which means anyone is able to post with minimal restrictions or oversight.†(Wilson, 2010) Drury (2007) discusses how marketers of various businesses can effectively engage in social media marketing. The paper gives a fairly comprehensive view on what social media is and the role of marketing in social media. It discusses about how social media can be monetised by the marketers. The paper lists out opportunities that can be tapped for commercial benefits and also emphasises on the mobile marketing strategy and describes the success criteria for measuring success. The paper however has the following drawbacks: It is very much general and has no qualitative or quantitative measures to define the success criteria. It gives a good overall picture but it would have been better if the context of the paper was more towards assessing the impact or the Return on Investment (ROI) of a specific sector or business. It lacks specific examples and also does not mention any strategy for implementation or even list challenges that organisations face while implementing good strategies for social media marketing. Michaelidou et al (2011) in their research discuss about social media marketing’s impact on small and medium B2B brands. They discuss in detail the adaption of social media networking as a marketing platform to be able to achieve the brand objectives and also the perceptions around the barriers of using social marketing networks. The research paper makes use of email surveys to understand the usage of social media by small and medium scale businesses that operate in the UK and the main drivers that motivate SMEs to adapt to the new channel of marketing. It clearly states the motivation of the research, giving appropriate background to the research and the method used for the research is depicted concisely. The research analyses the findings from the email survey and discusses the methods used for analysis. It provides a broad range of information and also clearly identifies the shortcomings in the business implementation of social media networking practices. It discusses how t hese pitfalls can be overcome and provides details for further improvement areas and scope for additional research in the future. The drawbacks of the paper are: Sample size: The sample size of the survey could have been more and also various other methods for obtaining the review could have been used. This would have ensured that the B2B base was thoroughly covered. Focus: The focus is on B2B businesses alone. It would have been interesting to see the results if the research was extended to B2C as well for small and medium scale enterprises. Some researches focus specifically on skills gap in digital marketing within specific industries. One such research concentrates on the communications industry (Royle and Laing, 2014). The research discusses the need for having the necessary skills in digital marketing arena and stresses on the growth and popularity of digital/social media marketing. The research explores the various gaps in the industry for digital marketing with a specific emphasis to communications sector and provides a best practice guide for the industry. It details the challenges that organisations face while implementing social media marketing and discusses the need to have evaluation criteria and metrics to critically analyse the success of social marketing strategies and campaigns within organisations. The paper talks about the key challenges that businesses face while trying to merge traditional marketing practices with that of social marketing. The rationale for the research is clearly mentioned and the li terature review is comprehensive. The conceptual framework is clearly detailed and the methodology used for developing the framework is precise. The research makes use of focus groups and interviews to be able to gauge the skill gap in the industry. The drawbacks of this research are: Limited sample size: The research could have used more samples to be able to analyse effectively the findings. Given that the research has already narrowed down by industry, it would have been good to get a more detailed view of the industry and a larger sample would have facilitated this. A study by Harvard Business Review (Edelman, 2010) discusses how the internet and the social marketing has changed not only the way businesses operate but also how consumers choose their products. It takes the reader through the funnel metaphor which was earlier being used by marketers to understand how consumers choose their products and how this has moved to a more open-ended approach whereby consumers no longer follow a methodical approach of selecting products. It stresses how important it is for brands to be able to connect with the consumers and studied the consumers’ decisions across five different industries namely automobiles, skincare, insurance, mobile telecommunications and electronics in three different continents. Based on the results of the study, it proposed a four-stage model that focuses on today’s consumers using social media for advocating products and also purchasing based on the reviews and advocacy received. The research takes the reader through t he entire customer journey and tells the businesses what it should not focus its energy and resources on. Providing statistical information about various surveys enables the businesses to identify the key areas that it should concentrate on to be able to build a good brand image online. Though the research is comprehensive it lacks in the following: Framework: It does not suggest what needs to be done and a framework for implementing those. The key focus is on what not to be done and it leaves it to the businesses to work on the best strategy. Sample size and analysis: The research does not disclose the sample size or indicate clearly the analysis method used to come to the conclusion. This section worked on identifying key research in the literature and also provided a critical review of each of the researches identified. 3.0 Conclusion Though there is a lot of literature on various aspects including but not limited to effects of social media on small and medium scale enterprises, identification of skill gaps in social media with specific emphasis to certain industries, general study on implementation challenges, perception of social media on businesses, barriers to adaptation of social media by businesses etc. it can be found that there is not much literature that specifically talks about a common framework for adapting to social media marketing along with the challenges that businesses might face and the evaluation criteria. Similarly while most of these researches make use of one or more methods for data collection, it is not very comprehensive. There is a gap in the current literature in terms of data collected from a wide range of sources using a bigger sample set. Given that technology has enabled a higher reach to customers, it would be good to get a larger sample to be able to effectively analyse the results . In many cases, the limitations of the research scope could be worked on to be able to get more information on the above mentioned areas. In short, it can be said that the social media marketing and the research around it are yet to attain the maturity level and there is a lot of scope for research that would aid businesses to effectively handle and manage social media marketing concerns and overcome challenges in a seamless and stress-free manner. 4.0 References Tuten, 2008: Advertising 2.0: Social Media Marketing in a Web 2.0 world, Greenwood publishing group. Week 7 discussion replies - Essay Example If the doors are not supposed to be closed, or it is allowable for the students to hang their arms or other body parts out of the vw, then it is not only unsafe to travel by the vw but also this discussion is out of context since the question is about fitting the students within the volume of the vw. Most of your answer is based on inculcating the concept of volume and size in the elementary students, and you have hardly touched upon the real point which is how to estimate the maximum number of students that fit in the vw. You need to discuss the volume of the vw and the average volume of a student, and compare the former to the latter to determine how many students can fit in the vw. While I agree with you on most part of your answer, I do not consent that all students have to be equally tall and weighty for the estimate to be accurate. Firstly, the problem requires you to determine the number of students that can fit in the vw without specifying that they have to be of equal height and weight, and secondly, some level of inaccuracy will always persist even if you select students of same height and weight because of numerous reasons. One reason can be that some students sit with their legs opened wider as compared to others. I find your description of the example of paper squares for the surface area very confusing and did not really understand its purpose. However, I agree to your method of calculating the volumes of the vw and the students, though you need to discuss how you would fit the students, as there are numerous ways; the students may just occupy the seats in the vw, they may sit in each other’s lap, some may sit in the empty area between the rear and front seats. These factors need to be discussed. I agree that there is space of five passengers in an average car, but here, the matter is of fitting the students in the vw,

Gender Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1

Gender - Essay Example Three main prospects are portrayed in these two articles. The first one is that journalism is not about intellectual ability only but also about having great determination. Women who have to be journalists must be ready to persevere and show dedication in their work. They should be ready to go through thorough training and also have a deep conviction that they can do the work. As Arnold Bennett puts it, journalism ‘will surely prove both exhausting and disappointing to those whose hearts are not set fast upon it’. To those who do not have what she terms as ‘iron determination’, to go against all odds, will find a hard time being n journalism. However, for those who are determined and persevering, they will surely overcome the disappointments that come along with journalism and hence find their work interesting and fulfilling. One who aspires to be a journalist must also be a good writer and one who loves to read newspapers and periodicals in a regular basis. It involves a lot of reading and a need to know more time after time. Hence, someone who does not have a natural love for reading will have a hard time in the field of journalism. An aspiring female journalist should possess the talent of coming up with new ideas regularly and be willing and ready to share them with other people. She should be creative and know how to argue out points and facts so as to gain the confidence and acceptance of her ideas to people. A female journalist must also be ready to face the prejudices that the society has against women. Even in collection of information, men will always be biased on the type of information that they give females since they feel that the females cannot understand some issues. As much as many women can now be seen in the field of journalism, very few can be found in the most influential positions that involve decision making.

Assessment and Feedback Essay Example for Free

Assessment and Feedback Essay Assessment drives the choices students make about their learning. It is widely recognised that assessment and feedback contain the strongest potential to change how, and what, students do to succeed in their learning (Ramsden, 2003). This Effective Teaching Guide on Assessment provides practical suggestions on assessment and feedback. Assessment of Learning and Assessment for Learning David Boud, a recognised researcher and scholar of assessment in higher education, suggests that assessment has many purposes, but particularly to help students to improve their learning and certify students’ learning. These two purposes lead to different ways of thinking about what, how, and when to assess students: |Assessment OF Learning |Assessment FOR Learning | |Focused on learning that has already happened; |Focused on learning for the future; | |Making a judgement about final performance; |Goal is to provide useful information to students about how to learn | |Designed to discriminate between students’ achievement and performance; |more effectively; | | Focused on grades, precision and measurement; |Helps students to identify what they do and don’t know – focus is on | |Concerned that tasks are reliable and valid; |improvement; and, | |Testing usually takes place under ‘standardised’ conditions; and, |Develops students’ judgements about the quality of their work – and how | |Grade contributes to final certification. |to improve. | According to Boud and Associate’s Seven Propositions for Assessment Reform in Higher Education (2010), assessment has most effect when: 1. Assessment is used to engage students in learning that is productive (including the need for assessment to be designed to focus students on learning); 2. Feedback is used to actively improve student learning; 3. Students and teachers become responsible partners in learning and assessment; 4. Students are inducted into the assessment practices and cultures of higher education; 5. Assessment for learning is placed at the centre of subject and project design; 6. Assessment for learning is a focus for staff and institutional development; and, 7. Assessment provides inclusive and trustworthy representation of student achievement. The power of feedback Feedback plays an important role in improving students’ learning. A useful summary is that provided by Gibbs and Simpson’s (2004). In their meta-study of the research about how assessment and feedback support student learning, 7 of their 10 identified conditions relate to feedback, and students’ understanding of feedback. These are:  Ã¢â‚¬ ¢ Sufficient feedback is provided, both often enough and in enough detail; †¢ Feedback focuses on students’ performance, on their learning and on actions under the students’ control, rather than on the students themselves and on their characteristics; †¢ Feedback is timely in that it is received by students while it still matters to them, and in time for them to pay attention to further learning or receive further assistance; †¢ Feedback is appropriate to the purpose of the assignment and to its criteria for success; †¢ Feedback is appropriate, in relation to students’ understanding of what they are supposed to be doing; †¢ Feedback is received and attended to; and, †¢ Feedback is acted on by the student. Hounsell (2004) also makes the following points about feedback: †¢ It can be extrinsic (assessment-focused) or intrinsic (activity and practice-based); †¢ It can be immediate and verbal (in order to address the potential lack of engagement when it arrives after an assessment); †¢ It can be provided to be a whole class; †¢ It can be many to many where students are involved in identifying the strengths and weaknesses (peer feedback); and, †¢ Feedback can be a loop – it can be offered on unfinished work. Another useful idea is feed-forward. Feed-forward encourages students to use something like a marking rubric (also captured by the idea of criteria and standards) to help plan their approach to an assessment. While a marking rubric is routinely used by university teachers to mark/grade students’ work (as an expression of what a student needs to demonstrate (and the level they need to achieve) to receive a particular grade), the idea of feed-forward is about encouraging students to use that same information in the rubric to plan their work, and perhaps even, to self-assess it before submitting it for formal feedback. In summary: Feedback example: Develop a marking rubric as a cover sheet. The rubric identifies the elements of the assignment, together with a breakdown of marks for each element or a description of the standard for an A, B, C, D, P etc. Feed-forward example: Provide the marking rubric to students before the assignment is due so that they clearly understand what’s expected, the levels of achievement, and can plan their approach accordingly. In marking student work, you’ll need a suite of feedback techniques. Remember, if you’re going to be spending a lot of time providing feedback, you want to make sure that students read, use and engage with your feedback to improve their next assignment. The best way to do that is to have a range of techniques that you can draw on, when you need to. The table below describes some feedback techniques. |Technique |Why use this technique? |How would I use this technique? | |Use a marking rubric that contains information |To encourage students to engage, wrestle |Set aside time to discuss the rubric with students| |about criteria and standards. If you’d like to read more about these two ideas (and others like them), two articles may be especially useful to you: Rust, Price O’Donovan (2003) and Price, O’Donovan Rust (2004). Consistency and fairness in marking and feedback Consistency in marking, or moderation, is aimed at ensuring fairness in marking, and requires finding or establishing agreement between markers. Making sure that assignments contain criteria and standards is a good start because the expectations involved are clear to the student and clear to the marker. Although this does not absolve the marker from interpreting students’ work, without criteria or standards, the job of marking ends up being much harder. The procedures for marking are set out in the University’s Assessment Procedures (an excerpt of the principles is below): Where there is more than one marker, selected pieces of work from each assessment task should be reviewed by the subject coordinator to verify the level and consistency of the marks allocated by the marker. This process, called moderation, increases the reliability of the assessment process and application of standards, promotes consistency, supports objectivity and establishes a shared understanding of standards and fairness in assessment. The university also has a grading schema with a range of Pass grades. |80-100% |A | |70-79% |B | |60-69% |C | |50-59% |D | |Ungraded |P (may also denote satisfactory completion of a Masters Prelim course of | | |postgraduate thesis) | Graduate capabilities Alongside the conventional grading schema, from 2012, all commencing first year students will receive a result on the achievement of the university’s six graduate capabilities at the end of the year: †¢ Writing †¢ Speaking †¢ Inquiry/Research †¢ Critical thinking †¢ Creative Problem-solving †¢ Teamwork There are some subjects which have been designated cornerstone, mid-point and capstone status. This means that their curriculum has been designed to teach, assess, provide feedback and report specifically on these graduate capabilities. For each graduate capability, students will receive one of three results: exceeded expectations, met expectations or did not meet expectations. Each faculty has carefully crafted a description of what these standards look like. It may be the case that you will be asked to provide feedback to students about their graduate capability achievement as well. Because faculties will have already done substantial work outlining those standards, it is likely you will be asked to offer students that feedback. Summary When considered together, assessment and feedback are incredibly powerful levers for influencing the direction of students’ efforts, and their learning. For many students, the assessment in the subject is the actual curriculum. It is largely students’ reading and perception of what the assessment demands of them which is a key determinant in how they spend their time in a subject. Therefore, the messages that students take away about assessment from the documents; the Subject Guide; from interaction with other students, are important considerations. In the second week, you will discover just how crucial feedback is to this process and how the adoption of standards and criteria will help you mark and grade more efficiently and effectively. Human Resource Management Essay -- Business Resource Managing Essays

Human Resource Management Effective human resource management is undoubtedly critical to the success of virtually all firms. Thus its importance is huge in the study of business strategy; which is the system of the firm’s important choices that are critical to the firm’s survival and relative success (Boxall and Purcell 2003). Getting more specific, strategic human resource management as a field of study is concerned with the strategic choices associated with the use of labour in firms and with explaining why some firms manage them more effectively than others (Boxall and Purcell 2003). Traditionally there has been much debate in the field of strategic HRM over two main schools of thought; â€Å"best fit† (contingency theory), and â€Å"best practice† (universalism). The â€Å"best fit† school of thought argues that HR strategy will be more effective when it is appropriately integrated with its specific organizational and broader environmental context (Boxall and Purcell 2003). This proposes questions about which are the most critical contingencies in this context and how they are best connected. The ‘best practice’ school of thought argues that all firms will see performance improvements if only they identify and implement best practice. This perspective requires top management to commit themselves to key HR practices. Basically, the idea is that a particular bundle of HR practices has the potential to contribute improved employee attitudes and behaviours, lower levels of absenteeism and labour turnover, and higher levels of productivity, quality and customer service. This has the ultimate effect of generating higher levels of profitability (Boxall and Purcell 2003). Both of the aforementioned â€Å"best theory† approaches to strategic HRM place emphasis on critical choices associated with competitive strategy; such as which industry to enter and what competitive position to seek in it (Boxall and Purcell 2003). However, these models make some serious assumptions of the firms HRM. They assume that the firm already has a clever leadership team that makes the competitive strategy choices effectively. They also assume that human resource issues such as hiring and training a capable workforce are straightforward and basic. The resource-based view (RBV) of strategy, a modern school of thought in the field of strategic HRM, sees these issues as strategic rather than stra... ... over time, and their importance to sustained competitive advantage (Boxall and Purcell, 2003). William Shakespeare Was Quite Shakexperienced At Creating

William Shakespeare was quite Shakexperienced at creating english words that would last from 1600 all the way to 2017. In fact, he invented more that 1,700 words that many people use on a regular basis. Without some of the words that Shakespeare invented, life would kinda suck. Every day would be a struggle. You know when there is a word, and all of the synonyms come to mind, but never the word that you want? Deep down, you know the synonyms will suffice but those words aren t...The word. It bothers you for the rest of the day, until†¦ all of the sudden it pops into your brain. And just like that the burden of not knowing the word has disappeared. Without Shakespeare, that burden would never go away, because the word you are looking for†¦show more content†¦But there was one small problem: Scotland already had a King, and a good one at that. His name was Duncan. Macbeth started to think about killing him, but then decides he can’t, because he is being so kind to him and his family. Lady Macbeth does not help the situation by saying â€Å"When you durst do it, then you are a man† (Shakespeare 1.7.49) She is basically calling Macbeth a coward until he kills him. Macbeth’s wife, his ambition and crave for power caused him succumb to the horrific thought of killing Duncan for the sole reason that he wanted to be king. Macbeth even admitted, â€Å"I have no spur. To prick the sides of my intent, but only. Vaulting ambition, which o erleaps itself, And falls on th other†¦ â€Å"(Shakespeare 1.7.25-28). He is saying had he had no reason to kill Duncan, only his ambition was influencing and convincing his mind that it was okay. It is a toss up on whether Macbeth is really a tragic hero, or if he is just a monster. Technically a tragic hero is defined as a protagonist who makes a error in judgement, that leads to their destruction. Macbeth made an error by listening to his wife, (lol) who convinced him to kill Duncan, which ul timately led to both of their deaths. As the wise Derek Zoolander once said â€Å"You mean, if you pull the thread the whole thing will unravel?† Yes, and that is exactly what happened to Macbeth. He expected that killing Duncan, Banquo, and Macduff’s family would be a one time thing, and he would
